Quilting Ministry

The Quilting Ministry at Monroe First Methodist Church was formed in 2005. Our mission is to make lap quilts to give to members of our church who are going through difficult times due to grave illness, the death of an immediate family member, or other traumatic situations. We also make the quilts to welcome the birth of a new baby.

Since our inception to the present we have given away over 108 quilts! We have also made and donated "Comfort Pillows" to cancer patients at Piedmont Hospital in Monroe, have made chair backs for our Contemporary Service, and in 2018 made pillows for our graduating High School Seniors.

In order to fund our expenses for materials and supplies we make queen size quilts to sell. These proceeds along with donations from individuals and businesses have allowed us to be self-supporting and also to be able to make sizable donations every year to various church projects.

Our group meets on Thursday afternoons at 1 PM in room 202, which is the room located upstairs between the stairwell door and the elevator.

Active members are: Linda Helms, Judy Lemon, Bettie Luenzmann, Jane McFerrin, and Nancy Wall.
